Memorial Day

We have had a pretty good run lately. Mom had a little melanoma taken off of her collarbone last week but the doctor was not concerned about it. She has not been walking around much but she has been feeling pretty well. She came home for the day today and sat in the yard while I tackled the weeds in the garden. She and Sam had a nice visit.

Pat was here again after Mother's Day for a very sad funeral. A very close friend of his passed away suddenly at the age of 49. After getting the phone call telling him the news, he got another call from Colin's school. He took a bad fall at school and broke his arm badly in two places. Pat headed back to Iowa for Colin's surgery and then had to drive up here for the funeral. Colin will be fine but he won't be playing baseball or swimming this summer. That's tough for a 9 year old.

My Tim is here for a short visit. He moved all of his belongings back home from Mnpls. and on the 1st of June he will be driving with friends to Lake Tahoe to work for the summer. He's hoping to make some money to get ahead of his school debt. Then he'll move back to Milwaukee and look for work. It will be nice to have him around again.

That's the news for now. Looking forward to an uneventful summer!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all! Mom was able to be home for the day. She sat outside in the sun for awhile and then we all went in at dinner time. She managed pretty well. She had Mother's Day cake and birthday cake so I'm sure her blood sugar was off the charts when she went back.

Pat was here with his kids for a few days so we were all together. We celebrated Keely's birthday a little early, since she was here. Cyndi stayed home to redecorate Keely's bedroom as a surprise for her 5th birthday on 5/30th. We missed her but she is an amazing woman. She accomplished more in a few days alone than most people can with a team of workers. We all wish we were married to Cyndi!

Our friend and neighbor, Tom Coughlin, "The Good Son," was able to join us for the day. He brought Mom a huge prime rib from the Range Line Inn. She loved it. Best food she's had in ages. For the record, the rest of us ate sandwiches and salads.

I'll add some photos of Mom and her prime rib, Mom with new great granddaughter Ryley (Chris and Andrea's newest), Pat's kids Colin (9), Mckenna (7), and Keely (5) and the birthday party. It was a good day and hopefully a good sign for the summer.

P.S. I have spent way too much time trying to figure out why I can't rotate these pictures. I'm afraid I'm giving up. You get the idea.

Long Time no Blog

Sorry, it has been awhile since I have logged in. To be honest, I have too many passwords flying around and it took me a few tries to remember which one I was using.

Mom has had no major setbacks since Easter. She is holding her own, not getting out much. She is just now starting to go back down to the dining room for meals, but in her wheelchair. I brought her home for dinner on Saturday and had her walk with her walker. She was winded and her back hurt but she did it. She has been sitting in a chair for WAY too long so she needs to build up some endurance to be able to be a little independent.

Pat and his kids are coming up this week to celebrate Mother's Day with her. That will be a highlight and probably wear her out, but if she is going to do it for anyone, it will be Pat!

Happy Mother's Day to all. I'll check in after the visit.
