Holiday News

Roche Family News
I hope that everyone had a nice holiday season. Ours was great! Mom was healthy and happy. We celebrated with everyone on the day before Christmas Eve at Bridget's house. (Christmas has changed with the growing family committment of the grandkids) Mom even came home overnight Christmas Eve. Pat, Cyndi and the kids made dinner, went to church and spent the evening with Mom at our house. Then she spent Christmas day with my family and Colleen, John and their family popped in after a movie to have dinner with us. It was very low key and delightful.

Mickey celebrated his "golden" birthday on the 27th so after a heart appt. for Mom we took him, Shawn and Mickey's girlfriend to lunch. Another successful outing. Dr. Thompson was pleased with how she was doing and we will not need to check back for a few months.

Since that day, Mom has had some congestion, though. It isn't really a cold but comes from fluid around her heart that has seeped into the lungs. They caught it right away at St. Anne's, ordered a chest x-ray, upped her water pill and potassium and started the oxygen and breathing treatments again.

Another x-ray yesterday shows some improvement but she is still coughing so she has been sticking to her room, I'm afraid. That gets a little dull. Our next goal is to get healthy for Kate Hammen's big 96th birthday celebration! She is looking forward to that very much.

The holiday photos are of the whole family together, Mom and her four kids, and Mom with all of the boys. I'll let you all guess who is who! Hope everyone stays well through this wonderfully mild winter and hope to see you all soon.
